What are you doing when you are not at Blue Sky?
I love working with my hands. Being an artist, woodworker, and ceramicist, I try to utilize my creativity in everything that I do. I can usually be found playing in the the vegetable garden or trying to be outside during every drop of sunshine that I can find. I enjoy riding my bike around town and have done some extensive bike touring as well. My friends are really important to me and I like to connect over a good meal or while sitting in sunny spot at a park. Last, but certainly not least, I take care of myself by running, doing yoga, cooking healthy meals, and relaxing in a sauna as often as possible.
What makes your services unique?
If my client is experiencing pain or discomfort I will ask questions to try to get a look at the bigger picture of what might be causing the pain. I will address the area of complaint but I will also act as a detective, trying to find other areas of tension that might be a contributing factor. When I am doing deeper work I try to blend it with long relaxation strokes because I believe that we are able let go of more tension and use less guarding when we are in a relaxed state.
What do you love about working at Blue Sky?
I love working in a place where my co-workers are such awesome and vibrant people. A comprehensive alternative health care team is such a great thing to be a part of and I am proud to be making a difference in people’s lives.
What gets you up in the morning?
I usually have a lot of things on my “to do” list and am eager to get them done. I spend a few moments laying in bed figuring out how I want my day pan out before I get up.
What’s your secret to life?
My life drastically changed for the better when I decided that I needed to be more vulnerable. I truly believe that if you are not allowing yourself to be vulnerable from time to time then it will be nearly impossible to grow and move forward in your life. It won’t always be easy but it will be worth it. Be brave, take risks and engage in your life!
What are you passionate about in the work?
I am really passionate about helping people to experience the healing powers of touch. I believe that when we give ourselves (and our nervous systems) the opportunity to experience the “relaxation response” profound healing occurs on a physical, emotional, and cellular level. I feel really lucky to be a part of this process for my clients and love that I am helping to create a healthier community each day that I am at work.
